After mixing colors and doing studies it's time to actually get some painting done.  It's nice to finally get to that point!  It begins with preparing paper in the sizes I want and gessoing my canvas.         This is followed by ruling parallel lines on both the paper and the canvas - one line every 1/8th of an inch.  Then I apply a coat of my background color.  For this series, the background color is white but that doesn't mean I will always paint on white.   After all this, the painstaking work begins, one row after the other.    Progress seems painfully slow, at times.  It's [...]
